Profile

Susanna Kass is a  member of Climate 50, the topmost influential Climate Change leaders to tackle Climate Change. Kass is the Data Center advisor for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Program working with the hyperscalers like Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Facebook, colocation providers Equinix, and with the Head of States for zero carbon emission pledge. 

Her prediction of 2020 for this decade and post Covid-19 is the Data Center/ICT sector shall transition to clean energy infrastructure.  In 2020, new $Billions clean assets Fund by Amazon and Microsoft, $Billions in clean energy data center infrastructure spent by Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Facebook to meet their carbon neutral- negative pledges to the UNSDG program. Recently, US Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden’s $2Tillion green infrastructure pledge to revamp the American infrastructure showed evidence; results are measured by triple zero (carbon, emissions, waste) data centers in Giga,  Terawatt scale around the globe.

Kass has 30 years of global data center operational experience, designing and managing data center infrastructure of over 200megawatts across 17 countries, operated 24x7x365 data center with energy storage and microgrid systems with her distributed team for over 2 decades, her clients included Goldman Sachs, Google, Akamai, Pixar, Disney, John Hopkins University.  Kass was COO at ebay International, General Manager of Hewlett Packard APAC Data Center, VP Global Data Center Business Operations at Sun Microsystems (sold to Oracle for $5.6B in 2009), EVP Sustainability and Innovation at startup Baselayer-I/O. (also sold to Iron Mountain for $2.1 B in 2019)

Kass is in the Energy sector concurrently for 12 years. Kass originated  2+ Gigawatts of renewable power contracts with her clients included Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Equinix, Walmart, Goldman Sachs. Kass is an Energy fellow at Stanford University, a lecturer in Urban Sustainability Design at Stanford School of Engineering , and in Materials Engineering and Environmental Studies at National University of Singapore. Kass is a co-founder at InfraPrime, a Switzerland startup focused on providing Sustainable Data Center design, holds Carbon Free Energy patents. The design was selected by the European Union for EcoPrime Power, her hyperscaler clients won Clean Energy Innovation Awards.

Kass is a STEM mentor of 300+ girls, a volunteer at Canopy.org for Tree Planting for low income communities,  Make A Wish foundation for over 20 years. Kass leads the Thought Leadership industry speaking forums in Data Center and Clean Energy industry for Data Center Dynamics, InsightaaS, Data Center World with Google, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, Amazon and leading cloud  innovation providers. Kass is the author of publications on Clean Energy, Circular Economy, Sustainability Design, led the Sustainability Cost of Metrics for UNSDG to advance Planet, People and Profit for the Data Center and ICT sector.
